Cigarettes Company Agrees To Pull Split Cigarette Pack
17
October 2006
British American Tobacco (BAT) has agreed to stop producing and supplying a type of
cigarette pack, which is claimed to be in breach of the Trade Practices Act.
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission
(ACCC) is taking legal action against British American Tobacco
regarding this
cigarette pack in the Federal Court in Sydney.
The cigarette pack in question is the Dunhill cigarette wallet packs that can
be split into two, and the ACCC is alleging that means one of the cigarette packs
does not show the required health warnings and consumer information.
British American Tobacco has today given an undertaking to
the court that the cigarette pack will be withdrawn from sale by next week,
and the case has been adjourned until next year.
